The World Richest Man, Jeff Bezos, To Step Down as Amazon CEO Today

Jeff Bezos is the second most richest person in the world. He is the founder and CEO of Amazon. He started Amazon in 1994. When he founded and created Amazon, it was only an online bookstore. He brought a drastic change from an online store to a technology empire.

After serving Amazon for 27 years, he has decided to hand over this responsibility to Anday jesy. Bezos announced in February that he would be stepping down as CEO at the peak of his career to focus more on innovation. He wants to expand his private space exploration firm, philanthropy and other endeavors.

Bezos at the age of 57, is handing over the top role to Andy jassy. He said that he has sentiment connected to 5th July because 27 years back on 5th July Amazon was incorporated and launched. Therefore, he decided on 5th July to step down from this position. However, Bezos will still remain the executive chairman and Amazon’s biggest shareholder.

Andy Jassy is the current CEO of the Amazon empire. He is also one of the minority owners of the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League. He is the founder of Amazon Music and Amazon Web Services. He joined Amazon in 1997 with several other Harvard MBA colleagues. His early roles included marketing manager. In 2003, Jeff Bezos and Andy Jassy came up with an idea to create the cloud computing which later became known as Amazon Web Services. Amazon Web service is a subsidiary of Amazon providing an on-demand cloud computing platform. Since then, Andy has been CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Bezos said, “Andy is well known inside the company and has been at Amazon almost as long as I have. He will be an outstanding leader, and he has my full confidence. Right now I see Amazon at its most inventive ever, making it an optimal time for this transition”.
